Barnwell Academy

Our PE Curriculum

At Barnwell Academy, it is our intent to deliver a high-quality physical education curriculum that inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. It is successfully adapted for all pupils to ensure they are challenged in a way that allows them to become physically confident and supports their health and fitness.

Physical Education is taught discretely twice each week. Lessons are clearly and logically planned to allow children to reflect and develop their knowledge, confidence and competence within sport and physical activities which build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.

The purpose of our Physical Education curriculum is to provide our pupils with a broad range of opportunities which develop childrens’ physical competence and knowledge of movement and safety, and their ability to use these to perform in a wide range of activities associated with the development of an active and healthy lifestyle.

It is our belief that the impact of our high expectations equips children with the knowledge and skills needed to communicate, collaborate and compete against others; how to improve in different physical activities and sports; how to evaluate and recognise their own success.
