School Cook 

Contract Type:           Permanent

Working Pattern:       35 hours per week (part-time)

Advert End Date:       12pm – Friday 11th October 2024

Salary:                            Scale 5 (NJC SCP 12 to 17) - £26,421 to £28,770 full-time equivalent

The Governors and Headteacher are looking to appoint an experienced school cook to be responsible for delivering a high-quality food and menu service at Barnwell Academy.

 

 Duties and responsibilities will include:

  • To take responsibility for the planning of meals within nutritional and dietary guidelines, including portion control, ensuring meals are cooked and serviced in a timely manner and to and exceptional standard.
  • To ensure the following of safe food hygiene standards, to provide well balanced meals at designated times providing adequate choice.
  • To lead and assist with the cooking, serving of meals and cleaning of kitchen area, as appropriate, in order to provide an effective service.
  • To comply with all work-related policies and to maintain the highest standards of health, hygiene and safety.
  • To manage and direct the day-to-work of the catering team and provide effective supervision to ensure the service performs to an appropriate high standard.

 You must have knowledge of food hygiene and specific cooking qualifications and experience (minimum of NVQ Level 3).  An understanding of the school environment is essential, and you must have proven experience as a cook or chef, preferably in a school, childcare, or similar setting. 

 Barnwell Academy is part of the Tyne and Wear Learning Trust, which is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.  All staff working at the Trust and its academies are expected to share a commitment to doing this. You will be expected to follow and promote the procedures in the child protection and safeguarding policy and report any concerns in accordance with agreed procedures.  This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to a DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

PVH Childcare Assistant (Daycare setting)

Contract Type:           Permanent

Working Pattern:       Variable - up to 40 hours per week (rotas issued on a weekly basis)

Advert End Date:       open ended

Salary:                            £13.04 per hour (NLW plus a 13% top-up for holiday plusage)

The Trustees and Executive Headteacher are looking to appoint a new PVH Childcare Assistant to be part of the highly committed team within our extremely popular Ofsted rated ‘Outstanding’ day care nursery. The post is on a ‘permanent’ basis with ‘variable hours’ (PVH) and you will be allocated hours (up to 37 hours) on a weekly basis dependent on occupancy levels in the setting.

Essential Criteria

  • Experience of working within a Day Care setting
  • The ability to work flexibly between hours of 8am and 6pm (Variable hours)

We wish to appoint a new member of staff who is committed to providing high quality childcare to our local community within a purpose-built nursery. The post holder will work as part of a team to provide high quality care and learning experiences for children to develop within the nursery and work in partnership with parents/carers and the wider community.
